Lee Michels, MD
Dr. Lee Michels joined Radiology Associates in 1977 after completing a one-year fellowship in neuroradiology at UCLA. Dr. Michels is a past member of LIPA Board of Directors and a senior member of the American Society of Neuroradiology. He currently serves as Past Chief of Staff of Sacred Heart Medical Center and on Oregon Imaging’s Board of Directors. Dr. Michels served as RAPC president 1992-2002. . Dr. Michels’ subspecialty is chest and neuroradiology.
L. Paul Wilson, MD
Dr. Paul Wilson subspecializes in interventional radiology and has been instrumental in developing interventional and angioplasty services at Sacred Heart Medical Center. He received his medical degree from the University of Oregon Medical School in 1972 and completed a fellowship program at UCSD in 1977 in Ultrasound, CT and Angiography. Dr. Wilson began with Radiology Associates in 1979.
Charles McGlade, MD
Dr. Chuck McGlade received his pre medical education from Johns Hopkins - Phi Beta Kappa 1979 and medical degree from Cornell University - alpha omega alpha 1983. He completed a sub-specialty fellowship in Angiography at UCLA in 1988. Dr. McGlade has been with Radiology Associates since 1988. He is currently holds the Vascular Radiology Leadership position on the OHVI board
Jon Ekstrom, MD
Dr. Jon Ekstrom came to Radiology Associates in 1989 after completing a one-year fellowship program at the University of Washington, specializing in MRI, CT and Ultrasound. Prior to this, he completed a six-month pediatric radiology fellowship at University of Colorado in Denver as part of his four-year residency program. Dr. Ekstrom subspecializes in musculoskeletal, women's imaging, and pediatric radiology. He is certified with the International Society for Clinical Densitometry and played a major role in development of our Dual Energy X-ray Absorbtiometry (DEXA) program, to diagnose osteoporosis in men and women.
Cathryn Chicola, MD, MPH
Dr. Chicola received her masters of Public Health and Doctorate of Medicine from Tulane University. She completed a body imaging residency and interventional fellowship at White Memorial Medical Center at Loma Linda University and at St. Mary's Medical Center in Long Beach. Dr Chicola served as Medical Director of Women’s Imaging at Newport Diagnostic Center in Newport Beach, California. She is certified by the International Society of Clinical Densitometry. Dr. Chicola has extensive experience in women’s imaging.
Philip J. Keizer JR., MD
Coos Bay - Dr. Philip Keizer became an associate of Radiology Associates, PC in July 1998. He is board certified in radiology and covers our affiliated site at Bay Area Hospital in Coos Bay, Oregon. Dr. Keizer completed his radiology residency training in 1998 at Saint Luke's Hospital/UMKC in Kansas City, Missouri. He received his Doctor of Medicine from St. Louis University School of Medicine in 1994. Prior to medical school, Dr. Keizer earned his Radiation Health at Oregon State University and worked in the nuclear industry as a health physicist at Brookhaven National Laboratory in New York, Hanford in Washington, and the Trojan Nuclear Power Plant in Oregon. Dr. Keizer is credentialed in all imaging modalities including CT, MRI, fluoroscopy, angiography, image guided biopsy and mammography, with a special interest in nuclear medicine.
Robert E. Gunderman, MD
Dr. Robert E. Gunderman joined Radiology Associates in 2004 following a merger. He has worked at McKenzie Willamette Medical Center since 1988. He received his medical degree from the University of Cincinnati in 1979 and completed his residency in 1983 at Indiana University Medical Center with an emphasis on interventional radiology and ultrasound. He has previously been Chief of Staff and Chief of Medicine.
Charles Deaton, MD
Dr. Charles Deaton began working for Radiology Associates in 1979. He received his medical and radiology training from Ohio State University and has special interest in musculoskeletal radiology and ultrasound. He served as the Medical Director of Oregon Imaging Center from 1993-1999, working closely on administrative and operational issues.
John P. Dohrman, M.D.
Dr. John Dohrman received his medical degree from the University of Iowa Medical School in 2002. He spent a transitional year as a resident at Virginia Mason Medical Center in Seattle, W.A. Dr. Dohrman completed his radiology residency at Indiana University Medical Center. He spent an additional year at Indiana University to complete a fellowship in nuclear medicine. Dr. Dohrman is ABR certified and licensed in Oregon and Indiana. Sub-specialization: General Radiology, Nuclear Medicine
John Gorman, MD
Dr. John Gorman joined Radiology Associates in 2005 after a 20-year career as a U. S. Navy Radiologist. He received his Medical Degree from the Oregon Health Sciences University in 1984 and subsequently completed a four-year diagnostic radiology residency and one-year diagnostic imaging fellowship at the Naval Medical Center, San Diego. Dr. Gorman brings managerial experience developed during his naval career to Radiology Associates. He spent seven years as a Program Director and three years as the Chairman of Radiology at Naval Medical Center, San Diego. Dr. Gorman sub-specializes in Body Imaging, musculoskeletal MRI and is a member of the American College of Radiology's Expert Panel on Ultrasound.
John Grimme, MD
Dr. John Grimme received his medical degree from University of Cincinnati College of Medicine in 1999. He then completed a surgical internship at Good Samaritan Hospital, also in Cincinnati, Ohio, prior to moving to Chapel Hill, North Carolina for radiology residency at the University of North Carolina from which he graduated in 2004. In addition to diagnostic cross-sectional neuroradiology and diagnostic cerebral angiography, Dr. Grimme is interested in body imaging, especially abdominal magnetic resonance imaging.
Akshay S. Gupta, MD
Dr. Akshay S. Gupta completed his undergraduate education at Duke University and medical education at Louisiana State University. After Residency at Tulane University he completed a two-year Neuroradiology fellowship at the University of Utah. His interests include Neuroradiology with an emphasis on head and neck imaging. Dr. Gupta joined Radiology Associates in 2004.
Matthews Fish, MD
Dr. Mathews Fish received his Medical Degree from the University of California School of Medicine, San Francisco in 1956. He also completed a Medical Internship and Residency in Pathology both from the University of California, Moffitt Hospital, where he was the Chief Resident in 1964. He was the Associate Director and Associate Professor at the Clinical Laboratories, San Francisco General Hospital from 1964-1974. Dr. Fish joined Pathology Consultants in 1974 and has been involved in the Nuclear Medicine Laboratories, Sacred Heart Medical Center since that time. Dr. Fish joins Radiology Associates as Director of Nuclear Medicine, Sacred Heart Medical Center, with a special interest in Nuclear Medicine, PET imaging, Nuclear Cardiology and related, noninvasive cardiac imaging.
Roger Hall, MD
Dr. Roger Hall is a well established physician in our community who has been practicing Radiology in the Eugene/Springfield area for more than 30 years. In 1987, he turned his subspecialty focus exclusively to MRI, with the formation of M.R. Imaging Associates in Springfield, Oregon. Dr. Hall holds a Doctorate of Medicine from Kansas University Medical School and completed his diagnostic radiology residency program at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit, Michigan.
Dr. Hall also served on the Lane Community College Board of Education and was president of the Maude Kerns Art Center. We are proud to be affiliated with Dr. Hall whose expertise will complement the services currently offered by our practice.
Bernie Isuani, MD
Dr. Bernie Isuani received his undergraduate degree in Biology and Economics from Stanford University in 1992. He then graduated with High Honors from The University of Texas Medical Branch in 1996 and was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society. Dr. Isuani completed his radiology residency at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, Tennessee, where he served as Chief Resident. He received an additional year of subspecialty training in Vascular and Interventional Radiology at the University of Utah and subsequently earned a Certificate of Added Qualification (C.A.Q.).
James D. Kippen, MD
Dr. James D. Kippen received his Doctorate of Medicine in 1997 and completed his residency in 2002 from The University of Manitoba located in Winnipeg, Canada. He completed a Body Imaging Fellowship in 2003 and a Magnetic Resonance Imaging Fellowship in 2004, both at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha, Nebraska. His particular area of interest is Body Imaging, including CT, MRI and ultrasound. Dr. James Kippen is a board certified radiologist and joined Radiology Associates in 2004.
Barbara Michaelis, MD
Dr. Barbara Michaelis was Chief of Imaging Services at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Syracuse, New York before relocating to Oregon in 1999. Since that time she has practiced full time at our affiliated site, Bay Area Hospital, in Coos Bay. Dr. Michaelis has been board certified in diagnostic radiology since 1996. She received her Doctor of Medicine from the State University of New York in 1991, where she completed an internship in internal medicine and her radiology residency in 1996. Prior to her medical training, Dr. Michaelis received a Master's degree in radiation biology from Oregon State University. Dr. Michaelis is credentialed in all imaging modalities including mammography, fluoroscopy, ultrasound, CT, MRI, nuclear medicine and interventional procedures.
Jonathan Sims, MD, MBA
Dr. Jonathan Sims joins Radiology Associates from Diagnostic Imaging Associates of Salem Oregon where his primary responsibility was fulfilling the radiological needs for Silverton General Hospital, Albany General Hospital, Diagnostic Imaging of Salem and Women's Center as well as two other outpatient imaging centers. Prior to his stint in Salem he worked as Visiting Professor at University of South Florida Department of Diagnostic Radiology where his primary responsibility was training residents in musculoskeletal radiology and interventional radiology. In 1997 Dr. Sims graduated from The University of Tampa with a Bachelor of Science, Psychology, with minors in Biology and Chemistry. He attended the combined Masters in Business Administration and MD program at the University of South Florida College and graduated in 2001. From 2001 through 2006, at University of South Florida Department of Diagnostic Radiology he did his Residency and Internship. His Fellowship in Musculoskeletal MRI was spent at University of South Florida Department of Diagnostic Radiology from 2006 through 2007. Dr. Sims is licensed in the State of Oregon as well as the State of Florida and is ABR certified. His personal interests include golf, and snowboarding.
Stephan G. Thiede, MD
Dr. Stephan G. Thiede received his BA degree at Oberlin College in Ohio. He completed his Radiology residency at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, followed by a two year Neuroradiology fellowship at the University of Utah. His major interests involve all aspects of Neuroradiology, including brain, spine, head & neck and angiography.

Matthew J. Thomson, MD
Dr. Matthew Thomson received his Doctorate of Medicine in 2000 from the University of Utah. He completed his internship at the Medical College of Wisconsin. Dr. Thomson then finished his residency at Loma Linda University Medical Center in California where he served as Chief Resident. He subsequently stayed at Loma Linda for an additional year of training as a fellow in Vascular and Interventional Radiology. Dr. Thomson subsequently earned a Certificate of Added Qualification (C.A.Q) in 2007.He joined the interventional team of Radiology Associates in 2006.
David Tsai, MD
Dr. Tsai graduated with a medical degree from the University of Missouri-Kansas City. He received training in Diagnostic Radiology at the University of Miami-Jackson Memorial Medical Center. Between his residency training and fellowship years, Dr. Tsai spent a year racing his bicycle in the United States and Europe. Fellowship training includes: Musculoskeletal Imaging at Washington University-Mallinckrodt Institute of Radiology and Trauma/Emergency Imaging at the University of Washington-Harborview Medical Center. Dr. Tsai is a member of the Society of Skeletal Radiology and the American Society of Emergency Radiology. He joined Radiology Associates, after spending 9 years in private practices in Salt Lake City, Utah and most recently in Charlotte, North Carolina.
John D. Tucker, M.D.
Dr. John Tucker received his medical degree from Temple University School of Medicine in 2002. He completed his internship at Good Samaritan Regional Medical Center in Phoenix, Arizona and his radiology residency at Loma Linda University Medical Center, where he served as chief resident. Dr. Tucker completed a fellowship in interventional radiology at University of Pennsylvania's medical center. Sub-specialization: Interventional radiology
Erik J. Young, M.D. Ph.D
Dr. Erik Young completed his residency at the University of Arkansas. Dr. Young worked part time as the emergency and inpatient radiologist at University of California at Davis Medical Center where he also completed a fellowship in body imaging. Sub-specialization: Body Imaging
Stephanie T. Young, MD
Dr. Stephanie T. Young graduated summa cum laude from Duke University in 1986; she received her Doctorate of Medicine in 1990 from Duke University’s School of Medicine. Dr. Young remained at Duke and completed her internship in 1991 and her residency in 1995. She joined Radiology Associates in 2006 from a private practice located in Concord, New Hampshire. Previous to Concord, Dr. Young was a US Naval Radiologist for nine years. Dr. Young is an avid hiker and biker with a love for world travel and exploration. She enjoys gourmet cooking and has had some culinary institute training. She is a former Divers Alert Network physician and met her husband scuba diving in the Caribbean. She practices primarily at Peace Harbor Hospital in Florence, Oregon, managing the radiology department there.

Burt Loessberg, MBA, CEO
Burt Loessberg joined Radiology Associates in January 1999 after relocating from Oklahoma City where he was the chief executive officer for Integrated Medical Delivery (IMD), a multi-service healthcare management company. Prior to IMD he served as chief operating officer and chief financial officer at Columbia Bethany Hospital in the Oklahoma City area. He began his career with Arthur Andersen & Co. and received a bachelor of science in bio-medical science and a master of business administration with a concentration in healthcare from Texas A&M University.

Janis Finch, Physician Resource Director
Janis Finch has been with Radiology Associates since January 1983. She began working for Radiology Associates in a temporary capacity as a medical transcriptionist until going permanent full time. She has worked in a number of different administrative roles during her tenure until becoming the Physician Resource Director. She is responsible for physician staffing, including generating the physician work schedule for all facilities and securing locum tenens for the practice. Janis is responsible for human resources functions including health insurance benefit renewal and orientation of new physicians and employees. She oversees payroll, and coordinates physician meetings.

April Ross, Director of Operations
April Ross has been with Radiology Associates since March of 2005. Previously she worked for PeaceHealth Oregon Region as the Radiology Information System and PACS Administrator where she was responsible for the digital imaging systems and support. She facilitated bringing ImageCast online in the Oregon Region. Prior to her analyst work April was a Supervisor in the Radiology department at Sacred Heart Medical Center. She is certified as an RT in Computerized Tomography, Diagnostic Radiology and Mammography.

BJ Hendricks, Director of IT and Business Development
BJ Hendricks has been with Radiology Associates since July of 2005. Prior to joining RAPC he worked as the Director of Information Systems at Oregon Imaging Centers where he began his career after receiving his Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration with options in Management Information Systems and Management from Washington State University. BJ has been very involved in administering OIC's PACS and RIS prior to helping install a new RIS/PACS.
Brent Maher, Radiologist Assistant (RPA)
After graduating from the Oregon Institute of Technology with a Bachelor Degree in Medical Imaging in 1990, Brent Maher began his career as a Radiology Technologist in the Special Procedures Department at Sacred Heart Medical Center. In March 2002, Brent successfully completed a 2-year program in Advanced Radiologic Sciences at Weber State University in Ogden, Utah. As Radiology Practitioner Assistant, Brent performs all of the exams and procedures as well as therapeutic injections in the outpatient Diagnostic Radiology Department. Brent works closely with the Radiologists and Technologists to provide the technical and imaging information necessary for the Radiologists to make a diagnosis. Brent's addition to the Radiology Associates staff allows more time for the radiologists to concentrate on the interpretation of imaging examinations and more complicated procedures.
Marcus Powley, Radiologist Assistant (RPA)
Marcus graduated from Weber State University’s Radiology Practitioner Assistant Program in 2005. He is based at RAPC’s affiliate site, Bay Area Hospital in Coos Bay Oregon. He works closely with the RAPC Radiologists to perform many diagnostic and interventional procedures. Marcus began his career in radiology upon graduation from Oregon Institute of Technology in 1997 with a BS in Medical Imaging. He began working at our affiliate Bay Area Hospital in Coos Bay in 1998 and was most recently the Lead Technologist prior to attending Weber State University. In addition to his diagnostic radiology experience, Marcus has additional training in Interventional radiology as well as MRI.
Wes Bright, RT (R ), (CV), RPA/RA (CBRPA)
Wes Bright was born and raised in Wyoming and attended college at Laramie County Community College in Cheyenne, WY graduating in 1988. He worked locally as a staff technologist until moving to Twin Falls, Idaho in 1992. In his 14 years at Magic Valley Regional Medical Center, Wes worked as a Staff Technologist, Special Procedures Technologist and Chief Technologist. In 2003 Wes entered the Weber State University’s Radiology Practitioner Assistant program. After completion of this program in 2005 he continued to work at Magic Valley until coming to Radiology Associates in May of 2006.
Maureen Barrie, Workflow Coordinator
Maureen Barrie has been employed by Radiology Associates since July 2004. She is the Workflow Coordinator for the radiologist. In this capacity she is responsible for the day-to-day management of the workflow in a digital environment. As a Workflow Coordinator she is the point of contact for radiologist’s questions, and concerns. In addition to these duties Maureen coordinates the quality assurance activities of the practice. Prior to her career at Radiology Associates, Maureen was employed at Oregon Imaging Center as a Scheduler, Receptionist and Technical Aide since 2000.
