Operating Philosophy

Imaging has become an increasingly powerful tool for both the diagnosis and treatment of medical conditions once considered beyond therapeutic reach. Radiology Associates’ practice includes all areas of imaging such as MRI, PET, CT scan, nuclear medicine, nuclear cardiology, interventional radiology, mammography, ultrasound and DEXA bone densitometry, as well as conventional x-ray studies. Radiology Associates (RAPC) currently provides radiological services for eight hospitals; nine freestanding imaging centers and/or large single and multi-specialty physician practices; and area physicians requesting individual consultations. The hospitals are staffed with experienced general radiologists, supported by subspecialty trained radiologists. RAPC radiologists are based at their respective hospitals and outpatient imaging centers in order to provide continuity of care and to develop close working relationships with their referring physicians. All practice locations are connected via a wide area network, providing electronic transmission of images to a common PACS system.

The precise depiction of the normal and pathologic anatomy provided by CT, MRI, PET, and mammography demands subspecialty expertise on the part of the radiologist for selection of proper technique and meaningful interpretation. Accordingly, we have divided our practice into several teams of experts to provide the clinicians with the breadth and depth of knowledge necessary to provide consultations in their areas of subspecialty expertise. Radiology Associates utilizes a high-speed Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS) and wide area network to allow the subspecialized radiologists at the central office in Eugene to provide consultations on exams performed at distant sites. This level of accessibility allows patients to receive expert professional consultations, while having the imaging done close to home. All outside studies are directed for sub-specialty interpretation through centralized workflow coordinators who insure that all studies are read and interpreted in an expedient manner. This enables RAPC to quickly report the findings of the exam to the referring physician so that patient follow-up can be planned. In addition, the radiologists are connected via T-1 lines or broadband internet connectivity with a site-to-site VPN at each of their homes in order to offer fast response to after-hour needs.

SUB-SPECIALTY EXPERTISE

Sub-specialization allows us to provide your patients the highest level of expertise available to support you in your diagnosis and treatments. To achieve this goal we utilize our advanced PACS and networking systems to digitally transmit high-resolution images to the sub-specialized physician best suited to interpret or consult on a particular case. The system improves our quality of care and increases convenience for physicians and patients alike.

Our fellowship trained sub-specialists concentrate in the following areas:

  • Neuroradiology Central Nervous System
  • Brain & Spine Neuro Intervention
  • Diagnostic & Therapeutic Injections including Vertebroplasty
  • PET Scan Musculoskeletal MRI / CT / Ultrasound
  • Abdominal Imaging CT / MRI / PET
  • Vascular Imaging Angiography and Intravascular Intervention
  • MRI and CT Angiography
  • Mammography
  • Breast Intervention
  • Stereotactic Biopsies
  • Nuclear Medicine
  • Nuclear Medicine Scintigraphy
  • Nuclear Cardiology PET Scan.
